Handbuilding with Clay
——————-——————-——————-The Workshop
This 2.5 hour workshop will introduce foundational hand building techniques: pinching, coiling, and slab building. You will then have the remainder of the time to work on 3-5 functional or sculptural pieces, with individual guidance from the instructor, ceramicist Adria Chilcote. Adria can also help with ideas of what to make, if needed!If you would like to decorate your pieces with color and texture, consider booking a Texture & Color: Surface Design workshop, always a week after our Handbuilding Workshops. Booking both at the same time includes a combined discount of €10.
Finished Pieces Pick-Up
In the following weeks, after your piece has dried and been fired once, we will glaze your work for you in a transparent glossy glaze and fire them a final time. Your pieces will be available for pick up in 4-6 weeks. Adria will send an email when your work is ready.Workshop Language

Texture & Color: Surface Design

This 2.5 hour workshop will introduce decoration and carving techniques to explore the surface design of ceramic pieces, incorporating color, layers, and texture. No experience necessary.Ceramicist and designer Adria Chilcote will provide an overview of the many engobe decoration techniques they’ve explored over the years in their own work including: brushing, sgraffitio, inlay, creating layers with cut paper, spray technique, carving to create textured areas, and slip trailing.
Pots handmade by Adria in studio will be available to choose from to decorate. €10 each. Or you can decorate your own pieces from our Handbuilding with Clay workshop.

Ceramic Tile Design
——-——————-——————-————The Workshop
This 2.5 hour workshop will introduce decoration and carving techniques to explore the surface design of four 10 cm x 10 cm handmade ceramic tiles, incorporating color, layers, and texture.Ceramicist and designer Adria Chilcote will provide an overview of the many engobe decoration techniques they’ve explored over the years in their own work including: brushing, sgraffitio, inlay, creating layers with paper resist, spray technique, carving texture, and slip trailing.
If you need more tiles to complete your design, more will be available for purchace. Four tiles for €25.

Private Potter’s Wheel Lessons

2.5 hours throwing, €130

All skill levels welcome.
Book a 2.5 hour session with ceramicist Adria Chilcote for dedicated time to learn the wheel for the first time or train and push your skills on the wheel if you already have some experience. The session can be catered to your individual needs. Adria will give demonstrations on the forms you wish to practice and then coach you as you throw on your own. All clay and tools are provided.
Come back and book a trimming session for guidance on trimming your pieces from the throwing lesson.
Adria will glaze up to 4 of your pieces from the session in a transparent glossy glaze or you are welcome to sign up for a Texture & Color: Decoration Techniques workshop (see above) to decorate your pieces.

Cancellations of workshop participation will receive a full refund if cancelled within 5 days of the workshop. Within 5 days of the workshop date, we cannot offer a refund but will offer to reschedule your participation to a later date.
